Devonshire Pointe Homeowner’s Association Minutes Annual Meeting 1/21/2019

The annual open board meeting convened from 6:00-7:00 P.M. at the Harris Public Library.

Board members Carole Pascarella , Kevin Cullen, Erik Lundry, Heinz Mantel, David Riley, Lauren Plennert and Ginée Ames were present.   Board members Jim Sweeney and Marius Gavrila were absent.

Residents present were Robert and Sandy Kord, Brad Oldick, Juan Gomez Lobo, and Michelle and Bob Zavacky

1. Treasurer Report:  Heinz Mantel presented the Treasurer Report.  Our total assets are $86,401.60.     Expenses for year end 2018 were $34,443.90.    The major expense for the year was replacing the trees along Adams.  We also paid for a survey of the lake.  Although we spent more in 2018, we did not have to draw down any funds and there will not be an increase in dues.    Dues invoices will be mailed shortly.

2. Maintenance/Landscaping:   A total of 30 trees were removed and replaced in 2018.  We had to replace a few of those 30.  We were able to do that at a discounted cost.   Erik is working on getting bids from service providers, including quotes on new landscaping for the front entrances.   The goal is to upgrade the existing and replace the dead shrubs.  We had Aquatic Weed Control do a dive to benchmark the accumulation of muck in the lake.

*Please keep all the street drains free of grass clippings, leaves and other debris.  All the drains in Devonshire go into the lake.   Please help us prevent any major expenses with the lake by watching those drains.*

3. Social:  The events in 2018 were a success, including the addition of a 2nd garage sale.  The Easter Egg hunt this year will be on Sunday, April 13th.    Heinz will ask the Snyder’s (owners of lot 87) for their permission to host it again on their lot.  The plan for 2019 is to host the same 4 events, including 2 garage sales again this year.  Dates TBD.   We plan to ask neighboring developments about their garage sales and possibly coincide with those dates.

4. Communications:  Ginée will send out postcards for the Easter Egg Hunt.   David reported we have 93 email addresses.   From those 93, it’s not clear how many houses that actually represents.   That’s the same with the 89 members in our Facebook group.   Lauren reported we have one new member since the last meeting.

*STAY INFORMED (and help us save postage)!  If you aren’t signed up for the Devonshire emails, please go our website and sign up.  https://www.devonshirepointe.com.    We do not send an abundance of emails nor do we sell your information.    Facebook is also a great source for what’s going on in the neighborhood.    We have a closed group called “Devonshire Pointe.”*

5. Architectural: The building plans were submitted and approved for the last remaining lot (#36) in Devonshire.    The committee worked diligently on the shed requirements and have been completed.  They are now available online.

6. Covenants: A reminder to get approval prior to starting any projects.

7. Open for comments/questions from the floor:   We brainstormed ideas about collecting email addresses.   Juan had a great idea to have a sign up sheet at all events.   From that, we decided to also ask how they heard of the event.
